Camp Sacajawea is a 77-acre timber located just 3 miles south of Quincy, IL in Adams County.

The Camp was purchased in 2001 with the dream that it would be an outdoor recreational area for people of all abilities.  At the time it was acquired, the property was a timber with very little development. In order for the Camp to be accessible to people with disabilities, development was needed – we needed handicapped accessible parking, handicapped accessible trails, and accessible restroom facilities. Thanks to great support from a number of resources, the Camp today provides a beautiful outdoor experience.

The property is home to abundant wildlife and is located only 3 miles away from Quincy, making it an ideal location for people with disabilities. People with physical disabilities and/or other health problems can experience the wilderness by traveling only a few miles. In addition, they remain close to healthcare facilities.

Area groups use the Camp for day camps, retreats, overnight camping and the public enjoys walking the trails and fishing in the small pond. Those interested in using the Camp for day and/or overnight activities should contact Cindy Freels at 217-223-0413 x 348 or email her at cfreels@twi.org to reserve the facility.
