Specialty Services for Youth
Screening Assessment Support Services (SASS)
Screening Assessment Support Services (SASS) provides crisis
intervention for children in a psychiatric crisis. Crisis staff arrive at
the site of the crisis to help parents/caregivers determine the need for
psychiatric hospitalization, as well as link the child and family to other
services. Services provided include:

| Services are provided to children and adolescents with
permission of their legal guardian. Fees are paid by Illinois
Department of Public Aid or are established on a sliding fee scale. Crisis
referrals
for SASS are made by calling the statewide CARES line at 1-800-345-9049.

Services for Youth Involved with the
Legal System

Transitions serves youth who have had some involvement with
the legal system, including youth who have been detained in the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center. Services are designed to link youth and their
families to needed mental health services and prevent future involvement
with the juvenile justice system.

| Intensive case management and other services are provided to
help support continued involvement in treatment as well as the learning of
new skills - skills that will reduce the likelihood of continued legal
problems.
Services are coordinated with the Adams County Probation

Mental Health Consultation Services

Transitions provides mental health consultation services to
child care providers in a nine county area in Western Illinois.
Services help child care centers strengthen their capacity to serve
children with behavioral challenges and to promote positive social and
emotional development of children in their care. It also helps identify children who may be in need of mental health services
and help link the child and his/her guardian to services in their
area. In addition, consultation and training are provided to child
care providers.

Early Childhood Mental Health Treatment Services
| Transitions helps children, ages 0-5, who are having
concerning social or emotional development problems through consultation,
therapy, and parent support services. Services are aimed at helping
prevent future mental health concerns by early identification and outreach.
Most services in this program are provided in parent homes or other
locations of their choice.
