CHILDREN FIRST PROGRAM

The Children First Program is an educational program for parents who have filed for divorce in Adams County and who have minor children.


SERVICE GOALS
  • Increase Awareness of the Effects of Divorce on Children
  • Increase Awareness of Children's Needs During Divorce
  • Increase Abilities of Parents to Meet the Needs of their Children
SERVICES PROVIDED The Children First Program consists of one group session, approximately two hours in duration. During this session, participants view videotaped vignettes depicting situations that often occur during divorce. Group discussion follows each of the vignettes.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
FOR SERVICES
Parents who have filed for divorce in Adams County, Illinois and who have minor children are required by the court system to attend this program..
COST OF SERVICES Children First Program fees are established for each parent. Fees are based upon a sliding fee scale (based upon the parent's income).
WHO TO CONTACT Referrals are accepted from individuals. Referrals or requests for information can be made by calling the Client Accounts Manager at 223-0413.


COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND SPEAKERS' BUREAU


As a part of its charitable mission, Transitions provides educational presentations to community groups and organizations.

Agency staff are happy to speak about a variety of topics related to agency services, mental health, vocational rehabilitation, and human development.
