A Consumer Success Story

    Betty*, a 48-year-old single mother of four children came to Transitions with depression, anxiety, and an inability to cope with stressors in her life.  Having divorced an abusive husband, Betty was the provider for her family.  She was employed at a local industry where she had worked for 10 years.  Prior to coming to Transitions, her boss told her he was leaving for another position.  He said she should find another job as she would be incapable of continuing her employment without him to help her with her responsibilities.

    Betty came to Transitions and worked with a therapist in our Behavioral Health Services Department.  Thanks to outpatient therapy and some medication for depression, Betty has maintained her employment and has also returned to school on a part-time basis.  She is planning to obtain a bachelor’s degree in social work so that she can assist women who are victims of domestic violence.
